Real Sociedad 1 Levante 1 - La Liga Week 28 (15th March 2019)

Real Sociedad were unable to defeat Levante at Anoeta despite dominating the first half.

They led after 27 minutes when Adnan Januzaj converted Theo Hernandez's excellent cross. It was the Belgian's first goal of the season, and no more than La Real deserved for an impressive first half.

La Liga debutant Ander Guevara, a 21-year-old midfielder, looked assured. He was the ninth Real Sociedad player to make his Spanish top flight debut this season. The hosts were making light of Igor Zubeldia being suspended, and Asier Illarramendi, Willian Jose and Diego Llorente being injured.

However, despite passing comfortably they never scored a second goal, and after half time Levante improved greatly.

The visitors pressed higher up the pitch and played with greater energy and desire. It was clear to see their improvement in the second period.

Borja Mayoral and Antonio Luna had missed chances for the visitors, and Aitor Fernandez was doing well in goal to foil the likes of Mikel Oyarzabal and Sandro Ramires.

With 14 minutes remaining substitute Jon Bautista missed a glorious chance to make it 2-0, shooting wide. Three minutes later Levante were level: Mayoral finishing Campana's corner very impressively.

Paco Lopez had already sent on Roger Marti for Ruben Rochina, and Levante continued looking to attack at 1-1. In the final 10 minutes both sides came close to winning the game. Moses Simon had a shot saved and in added time Aitor denied Aritz Elustondo from close range.

All in all this was a far better point for Levante than it was for Real Sociedad. Levante halted a run of three straight defeats, and scored for the first time in almost five hours of play.

For Real Sociedad it's now two points gained from the last four matches. This result was a dent in their European aspirations.
